Space Academy Program

Migrant Education Program (MEP) participating schools are invited to select outstanding migrant students to represent them at Space Academy, located at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

2009 Space Academy Program: An Opportunity for migrant students to expand their vision in Math and Science. Start preparing your application for submission by February 13, 2009.

The Washington State Migrant Education Program (MEP) will send six eligible migrant students to Space Academy in July 2009. They will be selected from MERO 105, 171, and 189 service regions.

The scholarship is open to qualifying migrant students in the state of Washington who are 12 through 14 years old at the time they attend Space Academy July 11-19, 2009, in Huntsville, Alabama. (Students must be born between July 11, 1994, and July 11, 1997, to be eligible.) The program offers an all-expense paid, week-long trip to NASA Space Academy. Expenses for the students' participation, including meals and lodging during their stay at the Center, will be paid by the MEP. Each student will be provided a round-trip ticket on a selected airline and terminate at a point near his or her home.

A chaperoning teacher is provided.

TEACHER-CHAPERONE APPLICATION
The MEP is inviting middle school mathematics and/or science teachers of migrant students to apply to attend "Space Academy for Educators" at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The selected teacher would be responsible to act as chaperone for six middle school migrant students who will be attending Space Academy.

All expenses for the teacher/chaperone's participation, including travel, registration, meals and lodging during their stay at Space Camp, will be paid by the MEP. The one-week U.S. Space Academy for Educators will be July 11-18, 2009. Teachers wishing to apply must complete an application packet.
